Mariraie's Homepage

Posted in Mariraie on May 23, 2006... modified on May 24, 2007

My name is Maryann and I live in Texas. I'm a divorced mother with five wonderful children (20,17,16,15,12). I feel great because it was a load off my shoulders and now I can do a lot of things. I just want to comment on some of the sob stories that I hear everyday and read about.
I use to sob and sit around and complain about my job wasn't being enough to live on. I realized that only you can make things happen. It's not going to come to you and say "Try Me". If you need a job go put in applications, if you need some type assistance look for it. Go on  the web, make phone calls and talk to people and when you do... things will turn around for you. If you want to go to college...go and apply, it's not coming to you. There all types of Grant and Scholarship programs out there.
I have dreams and finally doing something about them and the outcome is so great. If you want something... my advice to you is "GET UP, GO OUT and GET IT"!!! It'll happen but you have to make it happen and if you fall... get up and try again. Just don't quit. Yes, there may be rejection along the way but sometimes you have to fall to get the strength to rise back up and if you just have Faith in God...you won't mind falling because you know there are blessings on the road ahead:-)

Thanks for your time.
Maryann

Hello and thank you for your opinion but first I want to say that I used to be in the same situation that you're in and I pray that you get get the help for you and your kids but I am not complaining about people needing help on here...I guess you missed my point...all I am saying is that if you feel that you're not getting the help that you need, then start doing for yourself...yes, it is hard but no one's going to help you, if they see you're not helping yourself. Look, I lost a job that I was on for five years...a big layoff and I applied for Unemployment Benefits because I know I had to feed my kids and I know there are other programs that will help...yea, there were times when I thought I wasn't going to find a job or be able to feed my kids but I not only had faith in God...I had faith in myself and I got another job and got myself back on track. I'm a giver just like you and I volunteer to feed the homeless on Christmas and Thanksgiving, giving to the homeless people on the side of the road and if a friend is in need...I help them even if I never get the money back, I never regret what I do for other people because that's just who I am because I don't know when I would be in that situation again. So, I would never complain about others needing help...I feel for people who are needing help and wish I could do for all of them but I can't so I just say a prayer and hope that their lives get better...all I'm saying is that you have to at least try to help yourself while others are trying to help you, too...
